Things improved dramatically at this point, and we were fairly happy with the resulting image in most cases, noting only that colours appeared a little muted and lines weren't quite as sharp compared to the original. Despite attempting to clean the cover we found most images covered in unsightly artefacts, and only reached a desired level of quality after ditching it altogether. We beg to differ on this front, since we found the clear plastic covering of the sheath to be prone to dust and scratches, which then show up on the digital image. In order to get the best results, according to the manual, it's imperative that you place any photos into the supplied plastic sheath before scanning.
